I have been watching these pears the last couple of days. They were a bit old and when I tried one it was tasteless. All the freshness had left the pears and they were a bit dry. I didn’t want to throw them away though so I decided to search for some “old pears”-recipes. I couldn’t find anything useful.

And then tonight I thought: I should make ice-cream out of them! So I took out my ice-cream maker – of which the cooling element always resides in our freezer during summer – and I started pealing the pears and chopping the mint. And one hour later, we had a very tasty fluffy, fresh ice cream as dessert. I would recommend it to you all when you have old pears lying around. Don’t throw them away, combine them with the right ingredients and make them fresh again.

Apologies by the way for the dark pictures, but I cooked this up in the evening, so I couldn’t use daylight obviously.

If you want to make it yourself you will need the following ingredients:

– 5 old pears
– a few mint leaves
– 1 small cup of applejuice (or pearjuice)
– 1 teaspoon of honey
– 1 teaspoon of limejuice

Then first blend it and then mix it in a ice-cream maker. Easy!
