Happiness on Sunday is a home baked bread and more..
I like Sundays. Many people find it the most boring day of the week. I don’t. I love the silence of Sundays, the emptiness, the homely feeling & enjoy every bit of it. Whether we spend big parts of the day at home or outside the house.
Today we stayed in and a few very boring things made me happy today. One of them was that the potatoes that I had placed into soil bags almost a month ago, keep on growing. I have to put soil on them almost every other day now. I’m thinking very early potatoes this year!
Another thing that made me happy today was the homemade bread I made this morning. It was perfect, although it really wasn’t. A lot needs to improve, but that’s why there are so many Sunday’s in a year.
And then the last thing that made me happy on this sunny Sunday was a little tree that started growing from a cutling. I tried to propagated the fig tree months ago and it worked! I think it has been a half year ago now that I started this experiment. And although I always had the feeling that the small branches were still alive, I wasn’t sure really. But today one of the little buds on one of the branches grew a small leaf! Woooha! Say hello to our little fig tree.
I’m making several trees btw, to give away to people. The one below (it still doesn’t have a leaf) is for example for Mariana (who makes beautiful things at Florcita). I’m hoping that the little cutling will arrive safely at her house when I send it away per mail. It will be an experiment.

oh yay!!! my little tree!!! I love sundays too actually… so nice to just chill doing mundane things… we ate pancakes for breakfast with an improvised sort of jam that cooked, with strawberries and raspberries from last year’s harvest, while the pancakes were being made. A good cup of coffee… and aaaah bliss!
Do you use your dutch oven much? I think I have a whole book -somewhere- on recipes to do with the dutch oven. We use it a lot when we go camping. I might even have it digital…

I don’t know if I use it a lot, but I use it regularly. It’s not really a dutch oven though I believe. More like a french one. But if you have it digital, would love to see it. How do you use it when you are off camping? In an open fire? Or on your stove?

Homemade bread, yum!! Also, love your reasoning about why there are so many Sundays in a year :)

:D I have to confess that I might start using other days of the week for some bread experiments as well.
Ever since I read that hair is used to make bread taste ‘better’ I can’t think of anything else when I taste shop-bought bread. So I have to DIY as much as possible ;)
